Social Tennis

Social Tennis is a simple way to enjoy a game of tennis within a fun, sociable and semi-competitive environment!

Under coach supervision play will take place on both indoor and outdoor courts dependent on weather. Simply turn up and play, no need to pre book.

Where numbers exceed 12 (on Tuesdays) or 16 on weekends, rotation of players and courts used will occur more frequently.

Tuesday (evenings)
8:00pm – 10:00pm (organised until 9.00pm)

Saturday Afternoons (not available to midweek members)
1:00pm – 3:00pm

Sunday Mornings (not available to midweek members)
10:00am – 12:00pm

OPEN TO FULL / MIDWEEK (Tuesday)  MEMBERS ONLY – NO CHARGE

PLEASE NOTE INTERMEDIATE LEVEL AND ABOVE REQUIRED TO TAKE PART AND PLAYERS WILL NEED TO BE ASSESSED AND INVITED TO PLAY BY COACHES/OFFICE TEAM.

Pre-arranged Play

Members can also play ladders, practice or arrange their own fours outside club sessions in the open play sessions shown on the court schedule. If other people are waiting for a court you are asked to vacate courts after one hour, unless you are finishing a ladder.

In school holidays, junior coaching camps will be taking place during the day on indoor courts. We will always free up indoor courts for members to use during this time on the first day of the week, please note, if play adjoining children, it is likely to be noisy!  There will always be 2 outdoor courts available for members to book.

Floodlights

All outdoor courts are floodlit and are free. Last booking session 8.00pm – 9.00pm. On match evenings, time extended to 9.30pm

Indoor lighting charges apply of £12 per hour.

You will need your membership ID and password to access your account online.

Guests playing at the Club

The guest fee for an Adult is £10, and for a Junior (under 18) £5. The same guest is permitted 2 visits per season and will then be asked to join the Club. A guest/s fee should be paid at time of booking on the online system. If a member arrives to play on a non booked court, the fee should be paid before going on court via contacting the office for credit card payment.

 MEMBERS SOCIAL CLUB TENNIS GUIDELINES

  • On arrival, please wait patiently at the lounge side of the walkway. If one of the team is noting down players, please do not jump the queue by rushing ahead down steps at start of play or run down walkway to go onto court 1
  • If the coach on duty is delayed, please also remember a queue means a queue, please don’t queue jump or push you’re way to the front to get onto a court
  • Please encourage your fellow members, it is always nice to have a friendly atmosphere
  • Be courteous to all including coaches
  • New members should be made to feel welcome
  • Please do not make players feel uncomfortable on court if their standard is not as yours. We were all there once!
  • If you have any comments to make about anyone’s playing standard, direct this to the office
  • If a rotation has been made and it is not to your liking – give it a go, you never know! Join in with the ethos of ‘club social tennis’ – play for all of mixed ability
  • This is a relaxed social time of tennis, if you are looking for a competitive game, there are other options the club offers; book with other members or enter our box ladder leagues
  • Please return all balls to the ball basket on leaving the session
  • Please vacate courts within the 2 hour period, please do not expect to finish the point/game if a member who has booked the following hour will be waiting to go on

If you are sitting out for a round, we do encourage you to have some refreshments and a chat in the lounge / café area or when the weather gets a bit better, enjoy chilling whilst sitting outside and watching others play.
